Boys’ Baptism Fashion
Posted on July 15 2022
Baptism ceremonies throughout history did not look like they look today. Historically, babies were wrapped in swaddling ribbons. These ribbons were often from the ribbons used to tie husbands’ and wifes’ hand in marriage (hence the phrase “tie the knot”).
This tradition has died out and baptism fashion has evolved. Gowns came into favor as the preferred attire. Long gowns were the norm for both girls and boys and are still sometimes worn today. In addition, there has been a move to baptism outfits for boys, usually one piece outfits with a cap in an enormous array of styles. Some styles also include multi-piece outfits, pants, shirt, jacket or vest, and cap. Colors have also changed and now one can find outfits in white, off white, ivory. There has been a growing trend of late to include swaths of color in blue, beige or gray for boys.

Minimalist to ornate, there is an ever expanding choice for boys’ baptism outfits. Minimalist styles might include soft, quilted, cotton rompers from Italy, or a light and airy cotton short set from Karela Kids. These wonderful outfits can also be used for Dedications, Bris, or as an after baptism changing outfit from a more elaborate ensemble.

Finally, Sara’s understands that not all babies are baptized as infants. An older baby or young child may require a different look on their baptism day. Sara’s features a nice selection of a more traditional suit to fill this need. Designers such as Bimbalo and Michelina Bimbi offer exquisite quality and comfort.
